This course will explore the relationships between images and text, pictures and stories, writing and art.

Sessions will include work on: Imagery and  Seeing Things, Art vs Illustration, Framing, Telling the Story of the Picture, Still Life, Writing Portraits, Life Class, Family Album and Snapshots and Postcards.

Each class is two and a half hours long and will include flash writing, read-and-discuss, look-and-discuss, and write-and-discuss activities. Absolutely no prior knowledge of art is necessary. Students should bring their own writing materials and equipment to each session and will be expected to keep a writer's notebook.

An end of course exhibition of work by particicpants will be displayed in the Macphail Centre.

The fee is £40 for the block or £7 per session and should be PAID IN ADVANCE,

either cash or a cheque made payable to ‘THE HIGHLAND COUNCIL’ to the Macphail Office.


Martin has been practising yoga since 1990 and became a qualified Iyengar Yoga teacher in 1997.  As a teacher member of Iyengar Yoga (UK) he is entitled to use the Iyengar Yoga Certification Mark which indicates that he is properly trained and qualified to teach yoga using the Iyengar method.  His classes are unsuitable for those who are pregnant.  If you have any medical conditions, please speak to him in person or telephone him on 01571 855 360.  Note that Yoga therapy is not undertaken in any of the classes.  More information at www.gorrell.co.uk
